Art Gaffrey joined the Springville Sierra Sunrise Rotary Club in 2012 and has been a member of Rotary for over 15 years. He has been a member of the Porterville Rotary Club and the Lake Gregory-Crestline Rotary Club. Art has served as Club President, Membership Chair, Auction Chair and Assistant Governor.
He and Barbara were married in 1978 and have two children, Tim, a veterinarian in Porterville, and Katrina, a staff member for the Lincoln Memorial Shrine, A.K. Smiley Public Library, Redlands.
Art retired from the U.S. Forest Service after a 35 year career in wildfire management, law enforcement and natural resource management. He worked in Ohio, New York, Washington DC, and California. From 1996 thru 2006, he was the Forest Supervisor for the Sequoia National Forest and Giant Sequoia National Monument. Before retiring in 2010, he spent two years working on the Al Anbar Provincial Reconstruction Team in Ramadi, Iraq.
Art holds a Doctorate in Public Administration from the University of La Verne, a Master of Science in Forest Management from Oregon State University and a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resource Management from Cal Poly – San Luis Obispo. He is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, a Benefactor, a Sustaining Member and a member of the Paul Harris Society. He loves to spend time exploring the out-of-doors with Barbara and his yellow Labrador, Meadowbrook Belle. Art shares that his Rotary passion is to help spread peace in the world through community service and a compassion for all.
